BOSPHORUS DIGEST

Spring'09

“Count your age by friends, not years,

Count your life by smiles not tears.”

Dear Friends,

This spring it will be ten years ago that we set out on a new road ahead and founded ODS. Counting the days, or years, is not something we normally do, but when we realized our tenth anniversary was coming up, a little reflection was in order.

Back in 1999, when we started the company, we were well versed in the beauties our destination had to offer. Little did we know of the challenges that lay ahead. The last ten years have been intense and challenging for all of us and the effects of the eruptions on the world stage have been felt in Turkey also.

However, when we think back, it is not the challenges that come to mind, but rather the many friends we made, and the opportunities we have been granted.

We are very grateful for the friendship and support you all so generously showed us. Knowing we are all on this adventurous road together has made our journey an especially worthwhile one.

It is in this spirit that we celebrate our tenth anniversary and would like to say to you:

“Thank you, it has been an honor knowing you and working with you”.

Warm regards,

Hasan and Sadik

ODS INCENTIVES ALL OVER THE CITY...

ODS Incentive department welcomed 2009 with three well organized events in three outstanding venues of Istanbul.  Esma Sultan Mansion; the elegant lady of the Bosphorus, 1001 Column Cistern; underground haven of the city’s oldest columns and Suada, the tiny island nestled in the middle of Bosphorus with a 360° view of both Asian and European straits.

At the end of a busy sightseeing day spent in the depths of the city, a truly original welcome note resonated through the Janissary’s clapping cymbals. The Ottoman military tunes accompanied  our guests through the doors of Esma Sultan, into a world where new and old, contemporary and oriental resided in peace. The mystery turns into a pleasant fascination when the special lightning unveils the real beauty of the eccentric columns of the 1001 Column Cistern.

On a specially designed Turkish night among the city’s oldest columns, whirling dervishes diffuse into the perception of our fascinated guests in a different way....sliding through these mysterious columns, dervishes wrap up this underground space on a spiritual journey, presenting the Mystic’s Path in front of hundreds of foreign guests in a foreign country, recalling the message for unity.

Fun night at Suada started with a 5 min. boat transfer taken from the European side. Altough the course and theme of any event depends on what has been desired by the clients, we foresee two main requisites for the nights organized on Suada; good food and a raving band. It is not an easy task to bring out the crazy vibes in people and make everybody merge into the dancers zone. To accomplish this, you really need to trust the band you hire for the night. Thanks to Sunband, for they have managed to energize the “essence” in all 350 guests from a pharmaceutical company, and heating up the chilly January night on Suada.
