Adana is located in the center of huge Cilician Plains and on the banks of Seyhan River. It is a very old major city in southern Turkey founded in 6000 B.C. In its early years, was homeland to the Pheonicians, Chaldeans, Assyrians, Hittites, Persians, Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines, Abbasies, Seljuks and finally Ottomans.

You can visit ancient cities around Adana, such as Magarsus, Ayas, Commana, Castabala and Misis. There are also many other historical sites in the city, such as Taşköprü (Stone Bridge), the Grand Mosque and Büyük Saat (The Great Clock Tower).

The city has a wonderful cuisine with many tastes for visitors that serves the region's specialties, especially delicious and famous Adana Kebap and mezzes, usually accompanied by Şalgam (Turnip) juice and/or “Raki”. In addition, do not forget to try “Ayran” which is Turkey's national beverage. The drink is prepared with yogurt, water, and a little salt, and is served chilled.

Adana offers many options in terms of accommodation. Seyhan and Yüreğir districts should be preferred to be in the center. There are also accommodation options around the Seyhan River and the Stone Bridge, which are calmer comparing to the city center. Those who come due to events such as congresses, fairs, and seminars have the opportunity to stay close to Adana Fairground.
